The link isn’t doing me much good, but I can see by the current times on posts in the forum that some players are able to post there. Is there a side link to that too?

I think the trouble is pretty much down to the DNS system. If you can log in to the forum you should be able to log in to the game though.
try flushing your dns (start/run/cmd then type ipconfig /flushdns)
Adam suggested using the free opendns service over your ISP set DNS service.
